Wastewater Operator
The Greater Hazleton Joint Sewer Authority (GHJSA) is seeking candidates for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment, sludge processing and laboratory process control in a wastewater treatment facility; maintain operating conditions by interpreting meters, gauges, biological and chemical analysis and observation of the treatment process; maintain equipment and facilities in a safe, effective and orderly condition to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the wastewater treatment facility.
Applicants must have a strong understanding of chemistry, biology, hydraulics, mechanical, and electronic concepts as they relate to wastewater treatment. Applicants must either possess a Class A, Subclass 1 Pennsylvania Water and Wastewater Operators License or obtain the license with in two (2) years from the date of hire by passing the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Wastewater Class A, Subclass 1 Examination in order to continue employment with the GHJSA. A valid Pennsylvania drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record is also required for this position. Pre-employment drug screening and background checks, including driving record, will be conducted.
This is a swing shift position, which requires the employee to work first, second, and third shift on a rotating basis. An employment application and job description can be downloaded on the Authority's website at ghjsa.org or picked up at the
