CHIEF OF POLICE
Freeland Borough is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Police. Freeland Borough currently has a Police Department with two full-time officers and one part-time officer serving a community of approximately 3,000 residents in a 0.66 square mile area. The Chief under general administrative direction: plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Freeland Borough Police Department including law enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, disaster response, community problem solving, general community support services and related support services, and coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies. This position also requires daily patrol responsibilities. Work-related experience is required and a college degree is preferred but not a requirement.
The candidate must possess strong leadership experience and communication skills. A successful candidate must possess knowledge and proficiency in Police Department operations and practices and work with Borough leaders and administration. This will be a non-civil service position. The candidate must be Act 120 certified and have MPOETC certification or be MPOETC eligible. All applicants may be subject to a non-competitive exam, oral review, and/or physical exam.
